    Do not forget that TOR was developed by the Ministry of Defense of the USA and the NSA and that equally does not matter if you use a VPN or not.
    A VPN only protects you from private companies and hackers, but not from governments

    A vpn does not protect you from spies. There are MANY other ways that just knowing your true IP address to identify and track your web activities.
    Popularization is important but I think this is important not to simplify things too much.

    This is evident, 100% privacy does not exist, about this I do not have great illusions either.
    For this reason I only use a free VPN in a timely manner, for example, to watch some videos restricted in Spain or something similar.
    As I said before, privacy depends on oneself and if there is censorship in a country there is no other way than using encryption methods, such as steganography (hiding a message in a photograph) and encrypted emails, to maintain a private communication.
