This was a FUNDED FEATURE, do to be worked on 3 years or so ago by the diaspora devs.
But, with funding in hand, all talk of this ceased.

I sometimes go on the github and check, but I'm not a good dev in this language, and furthermore I don't have time to bridge this gap and learn how is diasporians.

I do not know the code -- it's Ruby --- and I just don't like Ruby.

It seems that the devs [of which there were never many] left to go profiteering and #sjw virtue signaling.
