It's pretty clear, EU politicians are absolute impotents.

after 2013 evo morales plane had to land to be searched for snowden nothing of this surprises me, wheather it's impotency, bootlicking dictators and other imerialist fckrs or the hipocricy with which they call themselves defence of human rights who cares all in name of global economy.
but however it's not just politicians all that asocial nationalist behaviour you can see now perfectly at the booking numbers of the europeans starting travel back to normal, just because they are in reach of some vaccine, immunity, tests and shit. PANdemie means stay the fuck out of everywhere until the who declares pandemy for ended.
however, sorry and stay strong! personal reports of situation in your country are highly welcome <3 keep on writing <3 international solidarity, peace, love and stuff ;)

So money speaks. Most of the "ideological progressive ideas" have only profits i n the background and is taken seriously only when profitable.

Where are all the commenters that said it's the "rebels" the problem? Those who said L. is a good guy and he won the elections fairly and us Europeans just wanted to destabilise and conquer Belarus just like we did with Ukraine. You guys, come out from your holes and explain us this situation. I'm waiting.

@Хрень с лапками what the news is saying is that the EU council is meeting tonight with the highest priority topic being possible sanctions against Belarus. Various EU Countries have already summoned the ambassadors. NATO is also going to discuss things. It just can't happen overnight, but the situation doesn't look pretty for Belarus. On the other hand it's true that no one wants to provoke stupid Putin into starting a nuclear war or whatever, given how staunch his defence of L. is. It kind of feels like he's using L. just as a pretext to pick up a fight and say "see, I didn't start it"

yep, my bad. To much emotions to realize it was weekends and it's hard to expect proper official reactions in a few hours Sunday to Monday overnight.

Frankly, it's very hard to stay calm and in adequate state.

I'm not saying that, it's that things need to be discussed. Yes they could have started earlier given the situation that is all but new, but you can't come up with sanctions just like that. They need to be effective at hitting the intended target and yet have as little consequences as possible for the average Joe. Plus all Countries need to agree because it's kind of pointless if we block, for example, iron exports to Belarus if they can just get it from the Country next to us.

In the meantime Lithuania and I believe France, among the others, have already forbidden all flights above Belarus and ambassadors have been summoned. I'll write back if I read anything about the outcome of tonight's meeting in the news.

@Michele Santullo, well I do understand your point. However, I'm speaking not only about yesterday incident. You are saying: "but you can’t come up with sanctions just like that", - as if everything was ok wit Belarus and Lukashenko until yesterday and it was just one day to make any decision.

It was not just yesterday. It lasts for 26 (twenty six) years. Whole my youth and adulthood. There are lot of killed, hijacked, kidnapped, tortured, disappeared politicians and journalists. It was distinct dictatorship all the time. The junta started killing people just on streets since the August of the previous year - almost a YEAR before. A plenty of time for not just "come up with sanctions just like that" but do something really effective.

    I wasn't

However, all we saw for all this years - was "concerns" and some very decorative б hollowed out imitation of sanctions.

THIS twenty six years are the reason I called it a "shadow support" - not just a lack of reactions in the last twenty four hours
